From Hobby to Profession: 

London events photographer – My Journey as an artist in London and Across the UK

        Fifteen years ago, photography started as a simple hobby for me, a way to express my creativity and capture the world around me. Armed with my first camera, I found joy in documenting unique moments of everyday life, from the subtle play of light on a rainy London street to the candid smiles of strangers in the park. Little did I know back then that this passion would grow into a full-fledged profession that I now dedicate my life to.

Always With a photo Camera in Hand

          One thing that has always set me apart is my habit of always keeping a camera close by. Whether it was a compact camera during family outings or a DSLR on city adventures, my goal was simple: to freeze fleeting moments and tell stories through imagery. Over time, I became fascinated by the power of photography, how a single frame can evoke emotions, preserve memories, and create timeless art. This fascination grew stronger with every click of the shutter.

Eventually, I reached a point where I realized that photography wasn’t just a pastime it was a calling. I wanted to take the leap and turn my passion into a profession, and that’s exactly what I did.

Working with LSBU as a events photographer: A Transformative Experience

           After graduating from London South Bank University (LSBU) as a filmmaker, I had the incredible opportunity to work with the university as an event photographer for 4 years. During my time at LSBU, I captured a variety of events, including graduation ceremonies, conferences, student portraits, and other types of photography. This experience not only allowed me to refine my technical skills but also kept me attuned to the evolving demands of the photography market. Collaborating with students and colleagues at the university constantly renewed my creative vision and provided fresh perspectives on my craft.

Taking the First Step as a photographer

           Deciding to transform a beloved hobby into a career is no small feat. It required courage, dedication, and an unwavering belief in my abilities. I started by honing my skills, studying the art and techniques of photography, and seeking feedback from peers and mentors. Over time, I built a portfolio showcasing my unique perspective and the moments I could capture.

One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned is that success in photography or any creative field demands continuous improvement. I’ve always been determined to refine my craft, experimenting with new styles, techniques, and tools to better serve my clients and create images that resonate deeply with them.
